Details of Raila’s meeting with former CS Moses Kuria

Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria on Monday August 5, 2024 held a consultative meeting with Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

In a statement posted on X, Kuria explained that they discussed various issues affecting the country, during a meeting at Raila’s Capitol Hill office.

Also present during the meeting was Raila’s son, Raila Odinga Junior.

“This morning at Capitol Hill I held a meeting with my friend Raila Odinga. We discussed various issues facing the nation at the moment,” stated Kuria.

“I thanked Baba for bending backwards (Yet again) to save the country from self destruction,” he added.

The former CS also noted that they discussed the upcoming national dialogue, emphasizing that it will culminate in deliberate structural reform for a lasting solution.

“We will work very, very closely in that endeavour as we continue to consult with other like minded leaders,” stated Kuria.

The former Public Service CS failed to be reappointed by President William Ruto after he dissolved his entire Cabinet in July 2024.

Meanwhile, Kuria had towards the end of July supported Raila’s call for the return of the Bomas draft.

“I fully support  Raila Odinga’s call for a return to the Bomas Draft. Over the last 19 years since rejection of Bomas, we have gone in circles with artificial experiments like Grand Coalition, Handshake and now Broad Based Government.

“We have skirted around to avoid the inevitable. I will offer my full devotion and commitment towards a National Constitutional conference towards the Bomas Draft,” Moses Kuria posted on July 28, 2024.

However, Raila was criticised after engaging in talks with President Ruto during anti-Finance Bill protests.

Raila’s close allies including ODM deputy party leaders (Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya), National Assembly minority leader Opiyo Wandayi and ODM chairman John Mbadi were nominated by President William for the position of cabinet secretaries.
