Detectives recover marijuana worth KSh435k ‘abandoned’ at a bus station

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives on Monday recovered marijuana approximately worth KSh435,000 at a bus booking station in Moyale, Marsabit County.

A team of anti-narcotics sleuths, acting on intel from the public, recovered the drugs hidden in sacks of beans.

The operation was led by Moyale SCCIO who received an alert about a suspicious person carrying four sacks of beans at Liban bus booking office.

Upon arrival, the suspect was nowhere to be found, but the goods had been left behind. Apparently, he had gone to get authorization papers from Kenya Revenue Authority.

With the help of a police sniffer dog, the sleuths discovered presence of drugs inside the sacks.

They ferried the bags to DCI Moyale offices where they ripped them open only to find 22 bales of marijuana with an estimated street value of KSh 435,000.

A manhunt has been launched for the suspect who intended to transport the drugs to an unknown destination.
