Detectives recover vehicle used in abduction of Meru blogger Sniper

In a new development, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have recovered a motor vehicle used in abduction of deceased Meru blogger Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper.

Sharing the update on social media, DCI noted that the vehicle, a silver Toyota Premio registration number KCR 742N, was used in the abduction of Sniper and also in disposal of his body.

“The DCI Homicide detectives yesterday recovered the vehicle that was used to abduct the late Daniel Muthiani Benard alias Sniper and later dispose his body at Mutonga River in Chiakariga area of Tharaka Nithi on December 2, 2023,” read part of the statement.

Investigations led detectives to the vehicle hidden in one of the residences in Canopy area of Kitheka, Meru County.

A deeper analysis unveiled that one of the murder suspects, Vincent Mureithi Kirimi alias Supuu, was the driver who hired the vehicle.

On the day Sniper was abducted, Supuu was in the company of three other murder suspects in custody namely; Brian Mwenda, Christus Manyara Kiambi and Boniface Kithinji Njihia alias DJ Kaboom onboard the Toyota Premio.

DCI assured that investigations into the case, which has garnered public interests, are being expedited.

Meanwhile, five suspects will be arraigned at the Kiambu Law Courts on Monday, January 29 for plea taking.

Boniface Kithinji Njihia alias DJ Kaboom, Brian Mwenda alias Brayo and Christus Manyara Kiambi are currently in police custody after the prosecution was granted custodial orders by Kibera Law Courts.

The other two namely; Vincent Muriithi and Kenneth Murangiri Guantai are set to undergo mental evaluation ahead of plea taking on the same day at Kiambu Law Courts.

“Painstaking investigations that have involved a thorough scrutiny of forensic evidence and data analysis since the taking over of the case on December 19 placed Vincent Muriithi alias Supuu at the core of the probe, right from luring the renowned tiktoker to his death trap to the recovery of the body in Chiakariga, Tharaka Nithi County,” the statement read in part.
