Three miners are feared dead after a gold mine in Chanda village, Vihiga County, collapsed while they were working.
Reports indicate that the miners were on their routine work when the walls of the gold mine caved in on them on Wednesday, February 21 around 6 pm.
Eye witnesses say that locals who arrived at the scene were able to rescue only one of the miners.
Efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining three miners who are still trapped underground.
Officers from the county’s disaster management department are leading the efforts.
