Stella Auka, the mother of the late actress Winnie Bwire, who was fondly remembered for her role as Dida on the popular TV show Sultana, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who stood by her family following the untimely passing of her daughter.
Winnie, who passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer while receiving treatment in Istanbul, Turkey, touched the lives of many through her vibrant spirit and talent.
In an emotional video, Stella thanked those who played a significant role in giving her daughter hope and ensuring a dignified farewell.
One of the key figures she highlighted was media personality Lulu Hassan and her production company, Jiffy Pictures, for their unwavering support.
Lulu and her team had worked closely with Winnie on Sultana, a series that captivated audiences and showcased her remarkable acting talent.
How did Stella show appreciation?
On September 24, Winnie’s mother Stella Auka posted a video on Bwire Ndubi’s YouTube channel, in which she expressed gratitude to all the individuals and groups who supported the family during the trying times of Winnie’s illness, care, and burial planning.
She expressed her sincere gratitude for everyone’s generosity and thoughtfulness.
“I want to thank Lulu Hassan and Jiffy Pictures for having driven the fund drive and mobilising people to come and help us for the first time and the second time. We are really grateful,” she added.
The assistance of Lulu Hassan didn’t stop there. Winnie’s mother spoke of how Lulu looked after the family at their last farewell, including getting them clothes to wear during the funeral.
“She is the one who dressed us even at the last send-off rite of Bwire. You are a true daughter, and thank you,” Stella said.
Mombasa County’s Contribution
Another key entity Stella mentioned was Mombasa County, whose administration, led by Governor Abdulswamad Nassir, played an instrumental role in facilitating the arrangements for Winnie’s funeral.
She expressed her deep appreciation for the county’s contribution, which included logistical support in organizing the dignified send-off her daughter deserved.
“Governor of Mombasa, who came during the fundraiser, and the County Speaker of Mombasa, Harun Khatri, gave us tickets to and from Turkey during our first visit. Thank you, you did us well,” she said.
Public Support and Fundraising Efforts
Beyond the notable figures and organizations, Stella extended her thanks to the general public for their overwhelming love and financial support.
Several fundraising efforts were initiated, both online and within various communities, to help cover Winnie’s medical expenses.
Donations poured in from friends, fans, and fellow actors, underscoring the impact Winnie had on the entertainment industry and the lives of those who watched her on-screen.
“I want to thank the fans for their financial support and for their prayers.
Without you people, we couldn’t have reached this far. Because of you, we were able to raise the funds.
We are really thankful for you,” she said.
