DJ Fatxo: My side of the story doesn’t matter anymore

Mugithi artist DJ Fatxo (real name Lawrence Njuguna) has admitted that he was deeply hurt by allegations against him over Jeff Mwathi’s death.
Taking to social media, the 28-year-old disclosed that he has since healed but with tough life lessons to carry on.
“My side of the story doesn’t matter anymore. Life happened, it hurt, I healed, but most importantly I learned who deserves a seat at my table & who will never sit at it again,” DJ Fatxo wrote.
He was cleared of any involvement in Mwathi’s demise by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in May 2023.
According to Duncan Okatch, Fatxo’s lawyer, the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) ordered an inquest into Mwathi’s death and cleared DJ Fatxo following examination of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) findings.
“The DCI did not find an iota of culpability that links our client to the said death or that purports to say that our client has any grey area in terms of Mwathi’s death.
“In fact, it is very clear that our client was not even in his house at the material time when his friend Jeff Mwathi met his death,” Okatch added.
The late Jeff Mwathi fell off the 10th floor of DJ Fatxo’s Red Wood Apartment in Kasarani on February 22, 2023.
Investigations revealed that the two only connected to discuss an interior design project earlier in the day, before Fatxo invited Mwathi to his house later for a party.
In the case which attracted public attention, CCTV footage from the residence proved that Fatxo was not at home at the time Mwathi fell to his death.
The DPP said CCTV evidence showed DJ Fatxo leaving the apartment at 5.02am in the company of three ladies, ostensibly to drop them home in Roysambu.
The security camera also captured Jeff falling and hitting the ground at 5.47am, some 45 minutes after Dj Fatxo had left with his visitors.
This in essence placed the DJ out of the apartment at the time of the fall.
