DJ Kalonje fires back, threatens to sue YouTuber Oga Obinna over defamation claims

Renowned disc jockey DJ Kalonje, who has made a name for himself in the music scene, is now turning to legal action against media personality and YouTuber Oga Obinna and suing him for defamation.

Kalonje alleges that Obinna has made defamatory statements about him on his popular YouTube channel, prompting a public outcry from the DJ.

In a fiery Instagram post, Kalonje expressed his frustration and outrage, accusing Obinna of slander and unprofessionalism. He vehemently defended his brand, emphasizing how seriously he takes his reputation.

Kalonje’s post read: “It is truly baffling to me how I ended up being dragged into someone else’s interview, let alone why anyone would attempt to tarnish my name and brand for the sake of a few fleeting views and likes.

“My brand is something I take with the utmost seriousness, and I refuse to entertain any form of defamation, whether it’s intended as a joke or not.”

Kalonje did not hold back, condemning Obinna’s actions as irresponsible and immature. “Your complete disregard for others when you recklessly spew harmful statements about someone else’s brand is not only appalling but utterly irresponsible.

I have dedicated years of hard work to building my reputation, and your actions are nothing short of unprofessional and immature.”

The DJ’s grievance was formalized in a demand letter sent to Obinna, which outlines potential legal damages if Obinna fails to comply with the outlined stipulations.

The letter highlights a specific incident from August 19, 2024, when Obinna allegedly criticized Kalonje’s ability to perform live mixes on his show, Obinna TV Extra.

The letter details: “On 19th August 2024, you posted a video on your YouTube channel, Obinna TV Extra, with the title mentioned above, where you stated that the director of our client, DJ Kalonje, cannot play live mixes despite the same not being true.”

DJ Kalonje Issues Seven-Day Ultimatum

DJ Kalonje’s legal team has cranked up the pressure, demanding that Obinna issue a no-holds-barred apology live on air.

“Our client has instructed us to demand, and we’re laying it out right here: you need to publicly and unconditionally apologize to our client’s director for those knowingly false statements,” the letter declares.

They’ve set Obinna a ticking clock with a seven-day deadline to make things right. If he doesn’t come clean and apologize, DJ Kalonje’s team is ready to hit the courtroom, with Obinna footing all the legal bills and bearing the brunt of the consequences.
