Award-winning disc jockey (Dj) Pierra Makena has disclosed how she lost the chance to have her dreams realized after meeting former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking to Radio47’s Mbaruk Mwalimu on “Hii Si Ya kusahau’ segment, DJ Pierra expressed her long-standing desire to meet Uhuru during his tenure as Kenya’s fourth president.

“I used to promise myself that should I ever meet former President Uhuru Kenyatta, I would have a list of what to tell him. I had a list of things, of this and that; give me land, a title deed etcetera,” shared Dj Pierra.

DJ Pierra lamented that when she finally had the opportunity to meet Uhuru at a public function where she was deejaying, she was so taken aback that she froze.

The DJ elaborated that her ‘wish list’ dissipated, as she could not summon the courage to speak to Uhuru.

“I couldn’t utter a word. I didn’t even say “hi”. I just stared at him. I tried to say anything, but nothing came out. I asked myself, “What is going on? Say it, this is your only chance!”. But, I couldn’t say a single word,” she narrated.

DJ Pierra recounted that Uhuru shook her hand, commended her for an outstanding performance and walked away.

The mother of one noted that the weight of the meeting was overwhelming and often wishes she could turn back time to seize the opportunity.

“I think I was scared. There is something that comes with power. I came out of there with nothing… He has no time for you. Aliniambia tu “good work”, because I was performing there. I always wish for it [moment] to replay,” she lamented.

Moving forward, Dj Pierra stated that she will not let such opportunities slip away and is prepared should she have the chance to meet Uhuru’s successor, President William Ruto.

She indicated that she has another ‘wish list’ that she plans to present to President Ruto but is not ready to disclose its content, yet.

“Niko na list. Until when I meet him [Ruto] that is when the list will come out. Ni vitu vingi sana…”
