Donald Trump, who often attacks President Joe Biden as old and weak, turned 78 on Friday.
Interestingly, Trump is only three years younger than Biden. Whoever wins the November election will set a new age record.
Biden, at 81, is already the oldest president, and if Trump wins, he would be the oldest ever at inauguration.
Trump tries to project a vigorous image.
Often appearing with martial arts personalities and doing his trademark short dance at rallies.
His use of cosmetics and hairspray gives him a tanned and youthful look from a distance.
At a birthday party in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump gave a lengthy campaign speech to paying guests.
The crowd, organized by Club 47 USA, sang “Happy Birthday”.
Additionally, he stood on stage before a row of American flags.
Invitations called him “the best president ever,” and Trump enjoyed the flattery, with most of the Republican Party now supporting him.
On Thursday, he even received a birthday message from Republican members of Congress, some of whom had criticized him after the Capitol riot.
There were no warm wishes from Biden’s camp.
Instead, they released an unflattering photo of a sweaty Trump with a list of his “78-lifetime accomplishments,” highlighting bankruptcies, far-right rhetoric, alleged misconduct, and his role in the Capitol assault.
“Happy birthday, Donald. You’re a crook, a failure, a fraud, and a threat to our democracy, economy, rights, and future,” said Biden’s campaign spokesman.
In response, a Trump spokeswoman called Biden a “weak and incompetent candidate” who looked like a “brain-dead zombie” at the G7 summit in Italy.
Polls show many Americans think both Joe Biden and Donald Trump are too old.
Moreover, Trump, who has had verbal slips, faces months of media exposure, which could highlight more gaffes.
Recently, he called Milwaukee, where the Republicans will hold their convention, a “horrible” place and made bizarre comments about electric vehicles.
Trump acknowledges that age attacks on Biden could backfire due to their similar ages.
“He’s not too old at all,” Trump said last September.
Biden agreed, posting, “Happy 78th birthday, Donald. Take it from one old guy to another: Age is just a number. This election, however, is a choice.”
