First Lady Rachel Ruto has penned a heartfelt message to her husband President William Ruto as he turns 57 years today.
Taking to social media, Rachel Ruto reflected on their relationship as she fondly referred to him as ‘Bill’.
“Happy Birthday, Bill, my cherished friend and confidant. On this momentous day, as we celebrate your birthday and our wedding anniversary, I am filled with gratitude,” the mother of seven wrote.
She summarised their love life through a Bible verse indicating key values that have grounded their marriage over the years.
“Reflecting on the journey we’ve shared, I am reminded of a verse from the Bible, “There are three things that will endure – faith, hope, and love – and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13. Kwa kweli mambo ni matatu.”
32 Years in Marriage
Rachel Ruto appreciated the Head of State for being her “constant source of joy and strength.”
“Your love and support have been a true blessing. Thank you…”
The two are today marking 32 years in marriage.
How Rachel and I met- Ruto
In an interview last year, President Ruto revealed that they met in a church where they both attended. He was an evangelist while Rachel was a member of the choir.
“She was a member of the choir like me, we were both members of an Evangelistic team called North Rift evangelistic team,” he added.
They would later get married in 1991 and have together raised seven children.
Leaders joined in the celebratory moods, sending their birthday wishes to the president via their social media pages.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua wrote: “Happy Birthday, my Brother and my Friend, President William Ruto.”
“Happy 57th Birthday HE President Ruto. May this day be a reminder of the divine purpose you serve in our nation. May you be surrounded by love and may your leadership continue to be a source of inspiration,” Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru said.
