DP Gachagua reveals he’s ready to reconcile with Uhuru Kenyatta

In an effort to bring Mt Kenya together before the 2027 General Election, Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua said on Friday that he is chasing former President Uhuru Kenyatta for talks.

He declared that he was determined to put the 2022 General Election feud behind him.

“Mr Kenyatta was fronting Mr Raila Odinga for the presidency and he lost. We have now decided to embrace him as our respectable son and statesman despite everything.

“As Mt Kenya leaders we have agreed not to be fighting him and I am planning to hold talks with him. I have ordered everyone to respect him and he is also doing good to keep his peace,” the DP added.

Taming Moses Kuria

The Deputy President promised to address Moses Kuria’s renowned use of profane insults against the Kenyatta family.

When criminals broke into the Kenyatta family’s Northlands ranch in Ruiru and stole more than 1,500 sheep and cut down trees, the split in the Mt. Kenya region’s leadership grew.

“It was me that approached the president about giving Kuria a job in the government. I’ll chat to Kuria about changing his bad boy ways.

“I’ll panel beat him until he complies with the civil’s requirements. I’ll adjust his tongue so it speaks nicely,” Gachagua added.

Justina Wamae foresees talks between Gachagua and Uhuru

Former presidential running mate Justina Wamae alluded that DP Rigathi Gachagua should seek a truce with former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking during a local interview, Wamae said leaders from Mt Kenya should bury the hatchet and come together.

“We know Uhuru Kenyatta cannot return to the political scene now because he is retired but the deputy president can look for him.

“They were very good friends. They should talk and reunite for the sake of the interests and future of Mt Kenya,” she explained.

In the 2022 general elections, Kenyatta backed Azimio leader Raila Odinga and his running mate for the presidency, bringing cracks within his camp.

DP Gachagua, who was Kenyatta’s personal assistant, faulted him for betraying the people of Mt Kenya.

“Uhuru and I were best of friends, our children were friends. We would eat and drink together. Our wives were friends and when he got back with you (Raila Odinga) he turned his back 0n me and wanted to arrest me,” he explained at a funeral in August 2023.
