DP Gachagua wants only three Chinese nationals working in the construction of Riruta-Ngong railway line

Deputy President RIgathi Gachagua has called on the Chinese company handling the construction of the Riruta- Ngong Meter gauge railway line to offer more employment opportunities to Kenyans in the project.

The DP who was accompanying President William Ruto for the official Commissioning of the project stated that the Chinese nationals are so many and they should only be three people.

“When the president was greeting these people i saw they were so many , there should only be three Chinese , the Owner of the company ,the chief engineer and the Accountant” Stated the Deputy President.

The Deputy President also stated that Kenyans are equally able to do all the work required in the project.

“Kenyans are able to handle the work , what we want is for more opportunity for Kenyans, they should bring the money and the Engineers.” he added

He at the same time called on the contractor to pay the workers on time preferably every Saturday.

The 12.5 Kilometre Riruta-Ngong Commuter Rail line will run through Riruta, Karen, Bulbul and Ngong’ stations.

The expansion of the Nairobi Commuter Railway Services is meant to present Kenyans with an accessible, affordable and reliable way to get to work, generating convenience and connecting people to services and economic opportunities.
