DPP Renson Igonga wins best CEO award at 2025 digital transformation public sector awards

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Renson Igonga, has been named the best Public Service CEO at the 2025 Digital Transformation Public Sector Awards in Mombasa.

This prestigious recognition comes as a result of his efforts in driving digital innovation within the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

The award was presented by the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and Digital Economy, William Kabogo, during the ceremony on Friday, February 28.

“We are excited by the digital transformation, and I assure you the ODPP will be at the forefront of embracing the digital era,” said Igonga.

A testament to digital advancements

Igonga was ranked second out of six nominees in his category, following an evaluation by a panel of judges drawn from both the public and private sectors.

His recognition is largely attributed to the successful implementation of the Uadilifu Case Management System, a digital solution that has streamlined case file management at the ODPP.

The system has significantly improved the speed and efficiency of prosecutorial processes while enhancing collaboration between the ODPP and the Judiciary.

“The DPP has consistently emphasized how the system has strengthened the working relationship between the ODPP and the Judiciary, particularly with the filing of charge sheets. He has vowed to ensure its full rollout at the national level,” ODPP stated.

Accolades for Igonga

This award adds to a growing list of accolades for the DPP:
• In 2024, Igonga was elected President of the Africa Prosecutors Association (APA) in Morocco.
• In December 2024, he was honored with the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) award by President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.

Gov’t push for digital transformation

Speaking at the event, CS Kabogo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to digital innovation, emphasizing the transition from manual to paperless operations in public service.

During the same event, the State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services was also recognized, receiving multiple awards, including:
• Best Collaborative Digital Public Sector Initiative (ETA)
• State Department of the Year, Digital Innovation
• 1st Runner-Up, Overall Digital Transformation Public Sector Awards 2025

The awards for the Immigration Department were presented to Director General Evelyn Cheluget by CS Kabogo, further highlighting the government’s dedication to embracing technology for efficient service delivery.
