Police in Ruaka, Kiambu County, have arrested six suspected robbers and recovered police communication gadgets believed to be used in executing criminal activities in the area.
Police say they recovered six walkie-talkies and two toy pistols from the suspects on Tuesday, August 6 morning.
Confirming the incident, Kiambaa Sub-County Police Commander Pius Mwanthi said the suspects were arrested when they attempted to break into a house at about 11 am.
“Luckily the occupants were in the house and when they realized so, they ran downstairs as an alarm was raised,” the police boss said.
After realising that their plan had been busted, the suspects are said to have hopped into a matatu that was heading to Nairobi. Police circulated the matatu’s details, which was intercepted a few meters away.
The six — aged between 20 and 27 — will remain in custody at Ruaka Police Station pending arraignment.
Police are also planning on raiding the suspects’ places.
