Drama as Machakos policeman fires 30 bullets in bar fight over a woman

Drama ensued at a night club in Yatta, Machakos County, after a police officer fired 30 bullets in a fight over a woman.

It all started at around 2:40 am on Friday, December 27, when Police Constable Fredrick Kipchoge of Matuu Police Station started creating disturbance at Imperial Lounge.

Worried that things might escalate quickly, one Moses Njue made a phone call to the station about the incident.

According to a police report seen by TV47 Digital, the duty officer visited the lounge and established that the said customer creating disturbance was one of their own. But upon noticing the duty officer, Constable Kipchoge went back to the police station.

However, at around 5:25 am, Kipchoge grabbed an AK47 rifle that was loaded with 30 rounds of ammunitions from the report office. The gun had been issued to another officer who was on patrol duties.

“The officer rushed back to the lounge while armed with the said rifle and he was followed by the OCS and other police officers and on being asked about his intentions, he claimed he wanted to arrest one man at the lounge whom he alleged had snatched his girlfriend,” the report reads in part.

His colleagues tried to grab him from behind with the aim of disarming him. But in the heat of the moment, Constable Kipchoge fired 30 rounds of ammunitions from the said rifle.

Luckily, no one was injured during the incident.

He was finally disarmed, arrested and escorted to Matuu Police Station where he was placed in custody.
