EACC arrests two police officers who demanded bribe to release impounded motorbike

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Tuesday, January 30 arrested and charged two police officers with the offence of bribery.

Police Constables Charles Ogola and Vincent Orwa were arrested for reportedly demanding a bribe so as to release a motorcycle they had impounded and detained at Kanduyi Police Patrol Base in Bungoma County claiming that it had been stolen.

The suspects are currently detained at EACC Bungoma Regional Office for processing and will later be held at Bungoma Police Station until tomorrow (Wednesday, January 31) when they will be arraigned before Bungoma Anti-Corruption Court.

The arrest comes after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) concurred with recommendations of the Commission to charge the suspects.

The remaining suspect namely; PC Onesmus Kiprop who is at large, is directed to forthwith present himself to EACC Bungoma Regional Office for processing.
