The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officials have pitched camp in the county and are conducting a series of activities among them public sensitization and stakeholder’s forums to create awareness on corruption.
Vincent Okong’o said the commission will give a report on the status of corruption in the country, going by this year’s theme ‘Uniting Against Corruption’.
Okongo said the commission will also give a report from a survey they have conducted outlining how various government entities and county governments have performed in the fight against graft.
Recently the commission raised a red flag over increased corruption in the counties calling for enhanced measures to curb it.
Governor Irungu Kang’ata’s say
On his part governor Irungu Kang’ata said his administration has put in measures to curb corruption in the system.
He revealed that he has ordered two county government employees to pay back Sh800 each which they allegedly squandered while undertaking projects.
He also said the automation of the system is also a major milestone in the fight against graft.
Murang’a county commander David Kainga said the national police service has taken its position in the fight against corruption urging the officers to be integrity driven.
Kainga said any officer who will be found to have been involved in an element of corruption will carry his or her own cross.
