Irate residents staged a demonstration on Nairobi’s Outering Road Blocking the road with stones and burning tires subsequently paralysing Traffic on the Road.
The fracas was due to an accident that killed one pedestrian.
Videos circulated on social media platforms showed how the demonstrations disrupted traffic with a gridlock experienced during the rush hour.
Reports indicated that the snarl-up blocked ambulances and fire engines from accessing Embakasi at a time when a gas explosion occurred in the Mradi area.
Kenyans online had lamented over the traffic disruption, wondering why they had spent hours along the highway.
“Siren sounds coming from Outering Road. What’s happening?”
“Good, morning, what is not happening here in Outering Road? Jam began at Allsops to Embakasi, this is surreal.”
“Too early to be sleeping on Outering Road Bana,” read some comments.
