Eastleigh murders suspect served as a police officer in Ethiopia before relocating to Kenya

Hashim Dagane Muhumed, the main suspect in the recent murders of three women in Eastleigh, Nairobi will be held in police custody for 21 days as investigations continue.

Dagane was on Monday, November 4 arraigned before the Makadara law Courts, where detectives requested for his detention until they conclude their investigations.

In court documents, the detectives handling the case argued that Dagane is a flight risk and therefore should not be released.

Dagane was arrested by DCI detectives on Sunday, November 3, 2024 from a hideout in Kamukunji area, Nairobi.

His arrest came 12 days after being linked to the murders of Amina Abidarashid, Nusayba Abdi, and Warris Daud, whose bodies were discovered in various locations in Nairobi and Machakos.

According to the DCI, Dagane was found in possession of several fake documents, including a fraudulent Kenyan ID.

Reports indicate he also served as a police officer in Ethiopia before he was arrested and jailed over murder claims.

He later fled to Kenya where he set up a base and started a taxi business in Eastleigh and Parklands.

Police reported that the suspect knew the slain women and had been involved in the extortion business in Nairobi for some time.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the 34-year-old suspect  was driving the Nissan Note car captured on CCTV cameras picking the victims from their Eastleigh home on October 21, 2024, hours before their bodies were discovered at different locations.

The vehicle was found abandoned at Wakulima Market and towed to DCI Headquarters for forensic examination.
