Easy Coach Limited has issued an update following the Monday evening accident involving Chavakali Boys High School students.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm a fatal accident involving our Mbale-Nairobi bus that occurred in Mamboleo- Kisumu on April 1st, 2024 around 10pm,” read part of their statement.
The bus company condoled with the family of the deceased student who was part of a group heading home for the April school holiday.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to their family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Easy Coach noted that three victims who were severely injured are now in stable condition.
“Other passengers received medical attention and have since been discharged,” the company added.
Easy Coach further pledged its commitment to collaborate with the authorities in establishing the cause of the fatal accident.

The bus overturned overturned at Coptic, Kisumu on Monday evening, leading to the Chavakali student’s instant death.
His body was transferred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Mortuary.
Nyanza Regional Traffic Commander Allan Mwangi stated that police officers were already visiting nearby hospitals to ascertain the number of injured students and their health status.
“My officers are at the scene while others are currently visiting different hospitals to ascertain the exact number of injured students. What we can confirm so far is that one student is dead,” he added.
According to St Johns Ambulance, 10 others were seriously injured and rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.
