Eddie Nketiah told he has no future at Arsenal

SportsWORLD

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has been told he has no future at the club under current manager Mikel Arteta and should seek to exit the club in the January transfer window.

Nketiah made a brief appearance off the bench in the final eight minutes of Arsenal’s 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Liverpool, with Kai Havertz chosen to lead the attack in the absence of Gabriel Jesus.

Former Blackburn striker and Premier League winner Chris Sutton suggests that Arteta’s choices send a clear message to the England international, and he should pack his bags and leave the Emirates.

According to Sutton, were he in Nketiah’s position, he would be questioning his future at Arsenal, especially if not starting as a central striker.

“[Mikel Arteta] is desperate, I get that. But what message does it send to Nketiah if Havertz is at number nine, what is Nketiah thinking? If you play a guy who has shackles on, come on, he has no future at Arsenal,” Sutton said.

Former England striker Alan Shearer questioned Arteta’s decision to introduce Nketiah so late, doing so only after Liverpool scored their second goal.

Despite Nketiah’s five Premier League goals this season, including a hat-trick against Sheffield United, his starts have been limited, and there have been links with Crystal Palace expressing interest in signing him.

The Gunners have reportedly set an asking price of £30 million, possibly driven by their intention to sell players to fund reinforcements.
