Dear Members of Parliament (MPs), as you return to the hallowed halls and chambers of bunge after a long Christmas break, it is important that you heed this call: to remain faithful to the oath you swore upon being elected.

Allow us to remind you that you voluntarily swore, in the name of the Almighty God and solemnly affirmed that you will bear true faith and allegiance to the People and the Republic of Kenya; You further pledged to obey, respect, uphold, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the Republic.

You also vowed that you would discharge your duties faithfully and conscientiously. That was your oath. It is the foundation upon which your legitimacy as representatives rests.

Our nation is grappling with profound challenges: the relentless burden of a high cost of living, made worse by soaring prices of essential commodities such as fuel, electricity, and food.

Simultaneously, we find ourselves on the precipice of a constitutional crisis due to the prolonged delays in reconstituting the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

Moreover, the crucial budget-making process demands your urgent attention and input with the main intention being to make life better for Kenyans.

Your return to the chambers presents an opportunity—a duty—to address these pressing concerns. We implore you to resist any external pressures or influences that may seek to divert you from this sacred obligation.

Let not partisan interests, personal agendas, or fleeting temptations sway your fidelity to the nation and its citizens.

May you draw strength from the solemn words you uttered upon assuming office, and may your actions reflect the highest ideals of service and stewardship. The people of Kenya are counting on you to remain true to your oath—do not disappoint them.
