Why would we be so ready to send a significant number of police officers to maintain peace in a foreign land, while a crisis rages within our own borders?
Isn’t the protection of every Kenyan citizen, regardless of their location or community, a fundamental priority for our government?
Let us remember, that the right to life is a sacred principle enshrined in our Constitution, and that those in positions of authority must fulfill their duty to protect and defend it without any excuses.
We also appeal to the communities in the affected region to exercise restraint and refrain from engaging in further violence.
These communities have coexisted peacefully for generations, and it is essential to preserve this harmony.
Additionally, our leaders bear a significant responsibility in these trying times. Their words have the power to either heal and restore or incite and aggravate.
We call upon our leaders to use their influence to promote peace and reconciliation.
As we grapple with this unfortunate situation, let us remember the words of our national anthem: “O God of all creation, bless this our land and nation. Justice be our shield and defender. May we dwell in unity, peace, and liberty. Plenty be found within our borders.”
