Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha has taken full responsibility and apologised for the abrupt closure of schools.

CS Magoha's impromptu announcement caught parents by surprise, with most of them unprepared to make sudden arrangements for their children to travel home.

While launching new classes at Umoja Secondary School in Uasin Gishu on Wednesday, Magoha admitted the unexpected announcement has caused pain on the part of parents and their children but maintains IEBC needed ample time to prepare for next week polls.

He has reassured parents that learning will resume smoothly after the elections as the government focus on Junior secondary transition in January.

According to the CS, 50% percent of the targeted 3,000 new classrooms are complete to facilitate the transition and the ministry remains upbeat the remainder will be accomplished before January.
