MKU hosts international conference on research, participatory leadership and innovation

In Summary

The 8th International Interdisciplinary and Inter-universities Research Conference (8iiiUC-A 2023) opened today at Mount Kenya University (MKU) Thika Main Campus. 

The three-day conference has attracted high profile speakers and researchers from some of the world's top universities including Vincent Pol University (Poland), Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (Nigeria), University of Makeni (Sierra Leone), Kyambogo University (Uganda), and Kenya's MKU, and University of Eldoret. Researchers from the National Commission For Science, Technology & Innovation (NACOSTI) are also in attendance. 

Conference Theme

The conference whose theme is “Participatory Leadership, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer for Sustainable Economies” started with remarks by officials from MKU- the host university. Those who spoke included Vice Chancellor Prof. Deogratius Jaganyi, co-founder Dr. Jane Nyutu, and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Vincent Gaitho.

 "The multi-disciplinary dimension of this conference is found to be very relevant to MKU which is in itself a multi-disciplinary institution," said Dr. Nyutu. "The Board of Directors congratulates the member universities of the consortium for the steady and sustained focus which has made you come this far."

Useful Strategy 

On his part, VC Jaganyi said the Interdisciplinary and Inter-universities Consortium "is a useful strategy for assisting universities in attaining their mission and varied visions."

Dr. Gaitho said participatory leadership is "very critical in successful management of institutions and organizations – when we add innovation to our leadership engagements and when we do this well enough, we are sure we would never go wrong."

Topical Topics 

Some of the topics being explored through the conference abstracts are "Job Market Analysis As A Tool Of Higher Education Programming And Employability, Curriculum Innovation In Higher Institutions Of Learning, and Participatory Leadership (1 Cor. 12: 12-30): Key To Sustainable Development.
