Eight of Nairobi’s Dishi na County kitchens celebrated their one-year anniversary this week, marking a significant milestone in the fight against hunger and malnutrition.
Speaking at Muthangari Primary School, where he joined the celebration at the Muthangari Kitchen and shared a meal with the learners, Nairobi Governor Sakaja Johnson reiterated that the eight kitchens form the foundation of the Dishi na County program.
“The eight kitchens, located in Bidii, Roysambu, Njiru, Kayole 1, Kwa Njenga, Muthangari, Toi, and Racecourse Primary, have collectively served over eight million meals since their inception,” he confirmed.
Governor Sakaja commended the dedication of the cooks, drivers, managers, and cleaners who have contributed to the program’s success.
“Hongera! Watoi Wadishi, Washibe wasome! It has been a great journey, and we are proud to see increased school enrollment thanks to Dishi na County,” he added.
