Eight people arrested for allegedly photocopying KCSE exam paper in Homa Bay

Eight people were on Monday, November 4 evening arrested at Pala Masongo Secondary School in Homa Bay County in connection with an alleged attempt to photocopy a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam paper.

Those arrested include; the center manager, several invigilators, Board of Governors (BOG) teachers, and other officials.

The suspects were reportedly found within the school compound, attempting to duplicate a Chemistry exam paper, according to Homa Bay Town Sub-County Police Commander Emmanuel Kiplagat.

“We managed to arrest eight persons including the centre manager, invigilators and BOG teachers. They were found photocopying the papers, exhibit has been taken. Investigations are going on,” Kiplagat said.

Kiplagat stated that authorities have heightened efforts to prevent exam malpractice, with law enforcement collaborating to uphold strict examination protocols.

“We want our children to have free and fair examination, and we shall arrest anybody who tries to facilitate cheating in exams. For the paper to get out of the examination centre, it means there was collussion, it is a scheme to steal exams,” the police boss added.

The suspects remain in custody, awaiting further investigation.
