Business in Eldoret town on Wednesday February 21, 2024 night came to a stand still as residents came out in large numbers to light candles in honor of the late 24 year old Kenyan hero kelvin kiptum.
Boda Boda riders and other business people led the procession to the place of the candle lighting as they mourn the world marathon record holder.
Kiptum died on February 11 alongside his Rwandese coach Gervais Hakizimana who was buried on Wednesday February 21 in Kigali,a ceremony which was attended by sports cabinet secretary Ababu Namwamba.
Speaking while attending the funeral service of Coach Gervais Hakizimana, the Cabinet Secretary announced that the Kenyan government is ready to offer the family of the late coach and his widow June KSh5 million (RWF40m) in support following his death alongside marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum.
Meanwhile Burial preparations are on the way for Kelvin Kiptum whose interment is set for February 23 a ceremony that will be attended by President William Ruto.
