Two-time Olympic Marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge today has joined 4700 grandaunts class of 2023 at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) for the 41st graduation ceremony held at the University’s main campus in Juja Kiambu county.
The marathoner was conferred with a Prestigious Honorary Degree Doctor of Humane Letters by Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology JKUAT.

The decision to award the degree to the legendary long-distance runner was reached unanimously by the university’s board, on 15 November.
“The decision was unanimously endorsed by the Honorary Degrees Committee, University Senate, and Council, recognizing Kipchoge’s unparalleled achievements and contributions to society.” stated the university board.

38-year-old Kipchoge who has won 16 titles out of the 18 marathons was presented the Princess of Asturias award in sports award during a ceremony held in Spain in October.
“Receiving the Princess of Asturias Award fulfils me with honour, as it is an acknowledgement for something that I have believed in thoroughly throughout my career,” posted kipchoge on his X account.
