Elon Musk, Donald Trump,JK Rowling accused of online bullying Algerian boxer over gender

French prosecutors have revealed that X owner Elon Musk, former U.S. President Donald Trump, and “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling are being accused of online bullying against Algerian Olympic boxer Imane Khelif, targeting her over her gender.

The lawsuit alleges that Khelif, an Olympic gold medalist, was subjected to a “misogynistic, racist, and sexist campaign” during the Paris Games. However, the legal action was filed against social media platforms, including X, rather than against specific individuals. This approach, common under French law, allows investigators to determine which person or organization may have been at fault.

Khelif, who became the center of a gender controversy at the Paris Olympic Games, is Algeria’s first gold medalist in women’s boxing and the country’s first athlete to win Olympic gold since 1996.

The controversy escalated when Italian boxer Angela Carini, whom Khelif was fighting, abandoned the match, questioning Khelif’s gender. As the referee raised Khelif’s arm in victory, Carini was caught on camera tearfully saying, “It’s not right.” She later explained her actions to BBC Sport, stating, “I wasn’t able to finish the match. I felt a strong pain in my nose, and with the experience and maturity I have as a woman, I hope my nation won’t take it badly, I hope my dad won’t take it badly – but I stopped for myself.”

In the aftermath, Rowling described the match on X as “a male punching a female.” Musk shared a post stating, “men don’t belong in women’s sports.” Trump also weighed in, posting a photo of the fight with the caption, “I will keep men out of women’s sports.”

In response, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) defended Khelif and condemned those spreading misinformation.
