X social media users will now be able to make video and audio calls using the platform, this is according to the company’s CEO Elon Musk.
X sees this as a big step since it will increase the platform’s ability to compete with other social media sites like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Zoom including video and voice calling capabilities.
Additionally, the calls will aim to make it simpler for X users to keep in touch with friends, family, and coworkers.
Musk has also indicated that the features will not require SIM card support to operate.
Operating systems flexibility
The new features will also be compatible with IOS, Mac, PC and Android operating systems.
Additionally, Musk assured the platform’s users that the calls will be “high quality” and “secure.”
He also said that X is working on making the calls available in more countries in the future.
however, he did not clarify whether one must be a paid subscriber to access the services.
Effective global address book
Musk has also announced that X is working on several other new features, including a new edit button and a feature that will allow users to verify their identities.
X has a built-in address book that makes it easy for users to find the people they want to call, in the Global address book.
The person they want to call can then be chosen from their address book, a feature for users who have friends and family in different countries.
Users only need to open the X app and touch on the “Call” button to access the video and voice-calling features of X.
The video and audio calling feature is just one of the many modifications Musk has made to the social networking site since he became the new owner.
Longer films for premium users, up to 2 hours in 1080p quality and 3 hours in 720p quality, are among the other modifications he has made.
