Following the global outage that affected Meta users rendering Facebook and Instagram and threads services unavailable rival social media platform X owned by Billionaire Elon Musk took advantage of the situation to gain more users on the platform.
Musk took a light hearted Jab at Meta indicating “If you’re reading this post, it’s because our servers are working” in an apparent ridicule of his rival’s servers.
Meta through its Communications Director Andy stone said on X via that it was working to resolve the hiccup.
“We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” he said.
We know some people were having trouble accessing our apps earlier. Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused, and thank you for your patience while our teams worked quickly to resolve!

Facebook users were logged out and attempts to log back onto the platform were met with error messages.
Instagram on the other hand had frozen feeds that could not refresh while the comment section was unresponsive.

The service came back online at 8:00 PM East African Time EAT.
