Elon Musk’s time as a senior White House advisor is reportedly running out at least, that’s what President Trump is telling those in his inner circle.
According to a Politico report citing three anonymous “Trump insiders,” Trump has informed top aides and Cabinet members that Musk will soon step away from his advisory role.

The president hinted at the shift on Monday, telling reporters in the Oval Office.
“I think he’s been amazing, but he’s got a big company to run. At some point, he’s going back he wants to.
I’d keep him as long as I could.”
Musk has been deeply involved in restructuring the Department of Government Efficiency ironically dubbed DOGE.
Recently he poured over $20 million into backing a conservative judge in Wisconsin, only to see the effort fail.
Despite Trump’s reported approval of Musk’s work, some members of the administration view him as a growing liability.

Meanwhile, Musk’s outside ventures are stirring controversy.
Tesla, his electric car giant, has become a flashpoint for protests and vandalism nationwide.
His status as a special government employee has also raised ethical concerns his temporary exemption from conflict-of-interest rules is set to expire within two months.
While Trump appears to be paving the way for Musk’s departure, some insiders believe he will continue working with the administration in an informal capacity.

The White House has yet to respond to requests for comment.
However, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt took to X on Wednesday, dismissing Politico’s report as “garbage”.
Stating that both Musk and Trump have made it clear that Musk will leave public service once his work at DOGE is complete.
