Kenyan comedienne Elsa Majimbo has deleted tweets and a video in which she made allegations against British model and actress Naomi Campbell.
Elsa on Monday, February 19 morning clarified that decision to delete the video and tweets did not mean that whatever she said against Campbell was untrue.
“I stand by my words. Content in my decision. The tweets are deleted due to seeking peace, not fear. Yall need to understand this is something that has happened since I was 19. My goal now is happiness,” Elsa tweeted after deleting the video.
Elsa had taken to social media in an 8-minute video to explain her relationship with the supermodel, and how their friendship fell out.
In the video, Elsa documented how she reached out to Campbell during one of her visits to Kenya. This was in December 2020 when Elsa had just gained fame during the COVID-19 pandemic.
To Elsa’s surprise, Campbell invited her to join in her vacation. Elsa described how the two shared experiences and even discussed about doing joint projects. One of this potential projects was to make a documentary about Elsa.
However, Elsa pursued the documentary project independently despite Campbell proposing the idea, and this was what led to the duo’s fall-out.
Campbell was reportedly enraged by Elsa’s move, taking the whole situation as a lack of communication and respect from the-then teenager.
Unanswered calls, texts
In the video, Elsa says that Campbell told her friends that she made her, something that she disputes. Elsa says that although Campbell was key in giving her huge credibility internationally and entertainment industry, she is not the one that ‘made’ her.
“Things started going very badly for me. I thought it was because of the situation [with Naomi], but I wanted to be sure,” she said in the video.
Elsa goes on to say that she tried reaching out to the supermodel, but she could neither pick her calls nor reply to her apology texts.
Alcoholism, depression
Elsa went on to say that during that period, she sunk into alcoholism and depression, and took time before putting her life in order.
However, this revelation did not sit well with a section of online users who slammed her for making allegations against Campbell. She clarified that Campbell did not push her into alcoholism.
“Naomi obviously never force fed me alcohol. The situation led to the action. My action. As I said, my part was played and responsibility is mine,” she clarified.
Campbell is yet to respond to these allegations.
