Embobut Bridge in Sokobora, Elgeyo Marakwet County collapsed on Sunday April 28, 2024 due to the ongoing heavy rains in the country.

The bridge collapsed at a time when a truck transporting murram was crossing. 

According to an eyewitness, three people were seriously injured during the incident.

According to the latest police report, 11 people have been confirmed dead as a result of drowning in 9 counties on Saturday April 27, including Nairobi, Kajiado and Machakos, following heavy rains witnessed across the country.

Elsewhere, Kijabe bridge, linking the town to Maai Mahiu road, was also swept away on Saturday by raging floods, paralysing transport as residents urged the government to construct a new bridge.
