Embu: Authorities intercept illegal Donkey meat consignment

Authorities in Embu County have intercepted a consignment of Donkey meat that was allegedly being transported to Embu Town for sale to unsuspecting consumers.

The meat, suspected to be from 15 slaughtered donkeys in Mbeere South, was discovered in a Town Ace van alongside donkey hides.

Law enforcement officers have arrested one suspect and are actively investigating the illegal trade to uncover more individuals involved in the syndicate.

According to officials from the Embu County government, authorities are working diligently to dismantle the illegal donkey meat network operating in the region.

Residents have been urged to exercise caution when purchasing meat from unlicensed butcheries, as consuming unverified meat could pose serious health risks.

County officials have called for greater public vigilance and cooperation in efforts to curb the growing illegal donkey meat trade.
