Embu hosts CAF D coaching course ahead of FIFA Women’s Football campaign roll-out

Close to 30 teachers began their 10-day CAF D coaching course, at Moi Stadium in Embu County. The opening ceremony was presided over by Embu County CEC for Youth, Gender, Sports, Culture, and Social Services, Jane Waroga, alongside FKF Embu Chairman Charles Njagi.

This course is part of the Women’s Football Campaign Program, a global initiative aimed at increasing female participation in football.

It focuses on fostering the development of women and girls in football from an early age, creating a structured pathway that nurtures young players and provides them with the necessary support and guidance to excel in the sport and potentially pursue national team and professional opportunities in the future.

They will be under the tutelage of Coach Educators Musa Otieno and Jackline Juma.

The course has been organized ahead of the official roll-out of the FIFA Women’s Football Campaign in Embu County on July 20, 2024. Embu will be the third county to roll out the program, which primarily targets players and school team coaches from primary schools.

Recognizing that students spend a significant amount of their time in school, the program places special emphasis on capacity building among school team coaches to ensure players receive proper football education from an early stage, enabling their growth into potential future professionals.

The roll-out event will bring together players and coaches from across Embu for a one-day tournament. The tournament aims to create a fun and engaging environment, providing players with the opportunity to participate in various small-sided games and other enjoyable activities.

Following this, the same program will be rolled out in Samburu on Saturday, July 27, 2024, and then in Busia on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
