Pastors from Embu County, aligned with the Kenya Pentecostal Pastors Forum, have publicly defended President William Ruto’s recent donation of KSh20 million to the Jesus Winner Ministries in Roysambu, Nairobi County.
Led by their Chairman, Apostle Simon Mwaniki, the clergy expressed strong support for President Ruto’s contribution, emphasising that such acts align with biblical principles.
Speaking from Embu on Wednesday, March 5 evening, the pastors encouraged politicians to continue supporting the church through donations, describing it as a practice rooted in scripture.
They underscored the significance of supporting local churches, which often operate without external funding or backing from missions. Apostle Mwaniki urged political leaders to recognize the essential role churches play in society, not only in spiritual matters but also in promoting social welfare and community development.
The pastors reiterated their belief that such contributions help fortify the church’s mission to serve the community.
Additionally, the pastors called on the President and his government to intensify efforts to fight corruption, which they said has undermined service delivery to the common citizen.
The clergy also condemned plans by members of Gen Z to visit Jesus Winner Ministries, stating that such actions could lead to physical confrontations with the church faithful.
They further criticised an incident in Kirinyaga during a funeral, where a pastor denied politicians the opportunity to speak, emphasizing that all political leaders, regardless of their affiliations, should be welcomed in the church and treated with equal respect.
