A secondary school teacher who committed suicide in Embu County on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, after being rejected by his side chic, leaves behind a pregnant wife, it has been reported.

According to a publication by Taifa Leo, the body of Dennis Mwaniki Njeru, 32, was found lying in his bed, with a note beside him detailing the reason for his action.

“He was a teacher from North Mbeere but was teaching at a secondary school in Kirinyaga County. He was found dead in his home. Preliminary investigation indicates that he committed suicide,” said the police.

According to the police, the deceased was foaming at the mouth, with a suspected insecticide found nearby as well. In the note, he said he made the decision after his partner rejected him.

“I might seem foolish, but I’ve opened up about what hurts me to 17 people but none spoke to me. Let’s meet in heaven. I begged my partner, but it was all in vain. I love you all,” he said in the note.

The teacher left instructions to be buried on Valentine’s Day, with his ex-partner being involved in reading his eulogy.

I just decided to rest in peace. I have tried all means but it has been in vain. I have pleaded with her but all has fallen on deaf ears,” added the fallen teacher.

Besides, he urged his family members to search for a child he had sired with a different woman in the neighbouring village and instructed elders of his clan to ensure his property was handed over to his child.

He also left behind a photo to be used for the burial program with the names of two members of the Meru county assembly as leaders of his funeral committee.
