KCB Rugby thrashed Catholic Monks 86-7 in an Enterprise Cup quarterfinal match at the KCB Sports Club on Saturday February 8, 2025 securing their place in the semifinals, where they will face Kabras RFC.
KCB set the tone early, with Michael Wanjala crossing the try line in the fourth minute. Austine Sikutwa successfully converted, giving the hosts a 7-0 lead. Captain Jacob Ojee quickly added another try three minutes later, although the conversion attempt went wide.
Catholic Monks briefly showed resistance when Philip Walukana powered over for their first try, with Victor Reins converting to narrow the gap to 12-7. However, their celebrations were short-lived as KCB responded almost immediately through Fidel Maina, with Sikutwa adding the extras to extend the lead to 19-7.
KCB maintained their attacking momentum, scoring three more unconverted tries through young talent Andycole Omolo, captain Jacob Ojee, and another from Omolo. The dominant first-half display saw the hosts take a commanding 34-7 lead at halftime.
In the second half, KCB continued to dismantle the Monks’ defense. Felix Ojow added to the scoreboard, followed by Isaac Njoroge’s try, which Sikutwa converted to stretch the lead to 46-7. The scoring spree continued with tries from Tyson Maina, Jacob Ojee, Manasseh Oduor, and another from Maina. Levy Amunga capped off the victory with successful conversions, finalizing an impressive 86-7 win.
KCB’s triumph booked their spot in the Enterprise Cup semifinals, where they will take on Kabras RFC on March 15, 2025. Kabras secured their place in the last four with a 43-20 victory over Kenya Harlequin at the Kakamega Showground.
Menengai Oilers will face Nondescript RFC in the other semifinal after advancing due to a walkover against Homeboyz in the quarterfinals. Nondies also progressed without playing, as South Coast Pirates forfeited their match in another quarterfinal encounter.
The semifinals are set for March 15, with the final scheduled for April 19, 2025.
