Africa's film industry is in mourning following the death of veteran actor Bruno Iwuoha.

The popular Nigerian actor died on Saturday, April 10 at the National Hospital Abuja following a long battle with diabetes. He died at the age of 68.

A statement from Actors Guild of Nigeria reads:

“It is on a sad note that we announce the passing away of our elder colleague and active member of AGN Abuja, Bruno Obinna Iwuoha. He died in the early hours of this morning after a prolonged battle with diabetes.

“Bruno Iwuoha hails from Ehime Mbano Local Government Area in Umunumo Umuanunu kindred, Imo state. He was aged 68 years, survived by his wife and six children.”

The late Iwuoha starred in numerous films including but not limited to World Apart, Magic Cap, Keeping Close, Another Bondage, Faces Of Love, Days Of Hatred, Two Bad Boys, Double Mind, Eagle’s Bride, Forever Yours, Jealous Lovers, My Own Share, My Portfolio, Occultic Battle, The Prince and The Princess and Sins Of The Flesh.

The late won the 2007 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAABest actor in supporting role in the film “Sins of the Flesh”.

Here in Kenya, Nigerian movies popularly referred to as "Afro Cinema" enjoy a huge following albeit secretly.
