Nonini receives award in US for raising albinism awareness
- Kenyan artiste Nonini won 2022 Afro Awards humanitarian award.
- Although he lives in the US, he was not in attendance but Big Ted picked the award on his behalf
Kenyan 'kapuka' artiste Hubert Mbuku Nakitare popularly known as Nonini received an award at the 2022 Afro Awards hosted in Los Angeles, United States.
Nonini had been nominated under the humanitarian category for his public awareness campaigns on albinism. Nonini also provides sunscreen to those suffering from albinism.
The 'Keroro' hitmaker did not attend the award ceremony, Big Ted however received the award on his behalf.
In a video, Nonini thanked the team behind his success, saying that the award is the most priceless he has received throughout his career.
"In my entire career as a musician! To me this is the most priceless and precious award I have ever received. Thank you Thomas Kwaka, alias Big Ted for receiving it on my behalf," he said.
"Thank you Afro Awards 2022 for the honour. My apologies that I was not able to make it physically to the ceremony. Jah Bless," he added.
