Ugandan artiste Jose Chameleon has issued a public apology for kissing his blood brother Douglas Mayanja popularly known as Weasel Manizo.
The kissing incident which took place during the 'Gwaja Mujje' show in Kampala on February 24, 2023 had attracted mixed reactions amongst their fans at a time where homosexuality has been outlawed in Uganda.
"I wish to also apologize to my fans, friends, for the deed me and Weasel shared on stage. I know that most of my friends are really offended and didn't carry it lightly. I sincerely apologize. There was just too much energy, excitement and I actually regret it. I also apologize on behalf of him (Weasel)," Chameleon said on Tuesday, February 28 evening.
The incident had also prompted Ugandan Pastor Martin Ssempa to open a formal police complain seeking the two to be investigated for practicing "something which is against God's command and the order of logic."
This is not the first time that Chameleon and his brother Weasel kissed during while performing on stage.
Last year, the duo shared a passionate kiss during a concert held in Bujumbura, Burundi eliciting mixed reactions in Uganda.
After his apology, Chameleon has flown out to Australia for a series of his shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
