Kenya Film and Classification Board Chairperson (KFCB) Njogu wa Njoroge has slammed rumour mongers for claiming he had left his wife for late Kikuyu Benga maestro John DeMathew's young widow.

A blog post sensationally claimed that Njoroge, who is a former radio presenter and parliamentary seat hopeful, had “eloped” with Carolyne Waithera Demathew.

“I never respond to blogs who are after traffic, likes and comments, BUT the disrespect to John' Demathew's family and to me is painful,” said Njogu. “I will respect De Mathew's family, to the last breath of my life. Its plainly evil even to think of writing such.”

Earlier this year, Njogu wa Njoroge narrated how DeMathew wisely steered him into building a home in his village.

"Every time I'm in this house, I remember John Demathew. Without informing me, he woke up one day, called Maina Baba and John Ndung'u Kalulu.

"They got into the car and drove all the way to Njoro Karima Mutiume. They found my dad. They asked my dad to show them where I'm supposed to build my village house.

"When he showed them, they marked the size of the house. That's when John D called me and asked to say hello to my dad. John was on my case on the progress of the house.

A year later, he again drove over for the house warming Mass presided over by Fr Kamiti. May God bless you with such a friend."

John DeMathew died in a road accident in 2019.

"Mumekosa news hivi," Carolyne addressed writers of the online blog. "Look for me for more news."
