The Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) is yet again under attack over payment of inadequate royalties to artists.

Popular artist Bien Aime of Sauti Sol musical band took to social media on Saturday where he announced he had received royalties amounting to KSh14,000.

"Let the weekend begin. I'm rich!... Your number 1 artist has been paid royalties. I can only imagine what upcoming artists like Khaligraph Jones are getting," he said.

Other artists have shared their M-Pesa messages on social media, receiving royalties of less than KSh2,000.

In March this year Ezekiel Mutua CEO of MCSK, revealed they would pay royalties for Performance in Public Places (PPP) and broadcasting dating back to July 2022.

The process of paying our royalties is expected to come to a close in May.
