Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag now claims he has zero regrets for missing out on Harry Kane as the duo meet in a Champions League opener on Wednesday.
Ten Hag had identified Kane as his top transfer target at the beginning of the summer transfer window.
However, the 30-year-old striker ultimately made a move from Tottenham to Bayern Munich in a £100m million deal.
Manchester United instead acquired the services of 20-year-old Rasmus Hojlund for an initial fee of £64 million. Unfortunately, they have endured three defeats in their first five Premier League matches.
When asked if he had any regrets about not signing Kane, Ten Hag responded, “No. We are happy with Rasmus. For the first game, he was injured. He played against Arsenal, he’s had a start, now we have to integrate him in the team. You can see he’s a big talent.”
Manchester United has only managed to score six goals in their first five Premier League games this season, while Kane has found the net four times in four Bundesliga matches.

With Hojlund back from a back injury, Erik ten Hag is optimistic about the partnership he can forge with Marcus Rashford, who enjoyed a career-best season with 30 goals last year.
“We learn from every training session and every game and we reflect. We have seen Rasmus and Rashy together, they are talking about how they can benefit from each other,” he said.
The duo combined for a goal that they believed to be an equalizer against Brighton on Saturday.
However, the ball had crossed the touchline before Rashford delivered the cross, and Manchester United eventually lost the match 3-1.
As they return to Champions League action following last season’s third-place finish, the pressure is mounting.
Ten Hag explained, “What we have to demand is to be consistent, we have to step up in certain levels, for 90-plus minutes.”
