Former Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama and his compatriot, Harambee Starlet forward Essie Akida, continue to impress for Kenya internationally.
Victor Wanyama was on the score sheet as his side, CF Montreal, in the Canadian Championship quarter-final match staged on Thursday morning.
On the other hand Esse Akida and her Greek side AC PAOK emerged the champions of the Greek Women’s Cup on Wednesday evening after overpowering AEK 5-4 in post-match penalties.
The win signaled PAOK’s second title in less than a month after bagging the league title.
Akida and the club will take part in the UEFA Women’s Champions League group-stage qualifiers.
Meanwhile CF Montreal, suffered a 2-1 defeat to Forge ,Victor Wanyama played for 79 minutes before his place was taken by Canadian midfielder Samuel Piette scored the solitary goal for his team.
Heading into the second leg of the last eight, Montreal had an advantage over their opposition after battling to a one-all draw in the first phase and needed a win of any kind to progress.
However, the visitors were well organized and needed only 14 minutes to break the deadlock through Daniel Parra, who latched on a loose ball from Beni Badibanga to give Booby Smyrniotis charge’s lead.
Ten minutes later, Forge capitalized on a defensive lapse from Montreal to double their advantage through Kwasi Poku to take a commanding lead heading to the breather.
Montreal gaffer Laurent Courtois responded with a triple substitution immediately after the break but they did less to initiate a comeback.
