Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has been appointed the chairperson of the Kenya National Trading Corporation (KNTC) for a three-year term.
His appointment, announced on Friday, signals a notable return to prominence after his unsuccessful bid for the Homa Bay gubernatorial seat in the 2022 General Election.
Kidero takes over from Hussein Tene Debasso in a strategic move by President William Ruto to inject fresh leadership into key state corporations.
The president’s administration has been reshuffling top positions as part of its agenda to improve governance and enhance service delivery in critical sectors.
The appointment, announced through Gazette Notice No. 14795, is effective from Friday, November 15, 2024, and will see Kidero at the helm of the KNTC for a three-year term.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (a) of the State Corporations Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto,
