Former Harambee Stars player Collins Okoth Ougo alias Gattuso was on Tuesday, July 23 arraigned before Justice Alexander Muteti in a Milimani High Court, Nairobi.
Gattuso was arraigned to answer to related to the alleged murder of a minor.
The renowned former Gor Mahia midfielder and his co-accused Sylvia Aoko Odhiambo are alleged to have murdered a 3-year-old girl namely Pamela Atieno alias Scovian Maya in Lucky Summer Estate in Nairobi.
Police claim that Gattuso, with the help of Odhiambo, broke into the deceased’s parents rental house in Lucky Summer in absence of her parents and committed the heinous act.
Her lifeless body was later discovered dumped in a nearby resident.
The court directed that the two suspects be presented again in court on 30th July 2024, to take plea after they have undergone a mental assessment.
Gattuso will be held at Industrial Area Remand Prison while his co-accused will be held at Langata Women’s Prison.
Past court sessions
In a previous court proceedings, Gattuso was charged of killing the baby on the night of April 22, 2024 when the her mother had stepped out of the rental house.
The mother had left the house at 1 am and returned at 4 am, only to find her child missing. A friend she used to live with in the house was also missing, with Police Constable Gilbert Kiprotich telling a Makadara court that Gattuso lived on the first floor of the same building.
A report filed at Lucky Summer Police Station by Lucky Summer Assistant Chief Peris Muthoni said that the child was murdered and dumped outside her mothers house.
When police visited the scene, they established that she had bruises on the neck and she was half-naked.
The court was also told that Gattuso tried to flee the scene after the incident.
“The respondent (Gattuso) packed some of his belongings in the house and was prepared to vacate from the house. On 22,4,2024, at around 6 am Gattuso left his house while carrying some clothes with a nylon paper and he came back hours later preparing to vacate the house,” an affidavit reads in part.
