Expect more defections from UDA to ODM – MP Aisha Mnyazi

National NewsPolitics

Malindi Member of Parliament Amina Mnyazi has announced there will be more defections to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party in Kilifi County as it remains the popular political outfit in the region.

She says the defections witnessed last week of key members of the Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) Party was just the beginning of many other similar defections as the party still enjoyed a lot of support.

Speaking in Kijiwetanga Secondary School during the official launch of toilets, the lawmaker said they are expecting even top United Democratic Alliance (UDA) officials from the county to join ODM.

Currently she said they are happy because ODM leader Raila Odinga is in Coast Region spearheading the mass registration exercise and also holding a series of rallies.

Raila kicked off his tour in Lamu and will be in Tana River today (Tuesday, January 23) before landing in Kilifi County on Wednesday.

Mnyazi: ‘Welcome Baba’

“We are welcoming Baba (Raila) and as you witnessed the other day there are PAA party members who defected to ODM, those are people from Government to opposition,” she said.

Mnyazi said by 2026 there will be senior party officials who will be joining the Raila-led party and hinted that even Charlene Ruto could join the ODM party.

By the time 2026 itafika kuna vigogo wengi hata ndani ya UDA watavuka waje huku kwetu ODM. Usishangae hata ukimwona Rachel Ruto ameasi kule amekuja huku kwetu,”

Mnyazi revealed that ODM Kilifi County leaders are currently laying out strategies to ensure that they register more people.

“I am going to Kilifi to have a meeting with fellow leaders to lay out more strategies to receive Baba and increase registration of members of our ODM Party,” she said.
